State Bar of Arizona Annual Convention 2021

Michelle Hernandez, business and corporate, nonprofit, and real estate associate, will be co-presenting a program called “Diversity Requirements in Corporate Governance” at the State Bar of Arizona’s Annual Convention on June 17, 2021.

California enacted AB 979 on September 30, 2020, a first-of-its kind statue requiring that publicly held corporations having their principal executive office in California include a minimum of one director from an underrepresented community. The statute expands on gender diversity requirements already enacted in several states and signals the first of a new wave of corporate board staffing and reporting requirements. Topics will include:

  • How to comply with the various states’ corporate board diversity and reporting requirements
  • Status of litigation regarding board diversity statues
  • How caproate boards are likely to look by 2025
