Jonathan Osder is an experienced intellectual property attorney who manages the full lifecycle of IP portfolios—from initial clearance and government registration to complex licensing and multi-jurisdictional enforcement. His practice centers on copyrights, trademarks, domain names, and AI, navigating the rapid legal shifts in digital media, technology, and rights of publicity.

A seasoned negotiator and strategist, Jonathan is recognized for crafting sophisticated agreements centered on pragmatic licensing and IP transfers. He works to safeguard his clients’ rights and innovations while maximizing the impact of their brands, guiding a diverse range of clients—from market leaders and software innovators to artists, publishers, and other prominent creatives.

Jonathan has spent his entire career at Donahue Fitzgerald LLP, joining the firm in 1994. He was made Partner in 2000 and served as an Equity Partner for over 25 years. During that time, he held the pivotal role of Chief Operating Officer (2005–2014) and chaired or co-chaired the firm’s Technology, Compensation, and Marketing Committees. He now continues his practice as Of Counsel, bringing a wise perspective to his client engagements and mentoring younger attorneys.

Jonathan earned his B.A. in English from the University of California, Berkeley (1989) and his J.D. from the University of San Francisco (1993), where he served as Comments Editor of the U.S.F. Law Review. While awaiting his California Bar results, he worked in Melbourne, Australia, for Phillips Fox Solicitors (now DLA Piper).
