Adam G. Engelskirchen is a partner in Donahue Fitzgerald’s Real Estate group. His practice is focused on the full- range representation of investors, lenders, businesses, public agencies and individuals in transactions and disputes involving real property, as well as general business law matters.

Adam represents clients in the financing (including mortgage loan origination and modification), acquisition, entitlement, development, leasing, and disposition of real estate assets; in the formation, structuring, and dissolution of business entities; and in the acquisition and disposition of operating businesses. He has particular expertise in real estate secured lending, ground leases, historic buildings and  projects involving mission-driven organizations such as educational institutions, non-profits and public agencies. Clients have regularly requested his support in the resolution, often in collaboration with litigation colleagues, of a broad range of disputes involving real estate and other matters as varied as breaches of contract, tenant-in- common investments, and entertainment-related matters.

A licensed real estate broker and formerly Director of Real Estate for The Presidio Trust, for several years Adam led the Trust’s successful effort to achieve financial self-sufficiency by generating revenue from the Presidio’s 6MM square foot portfolio. He and his team redeveloped, leased and managed the Presidio’s commercial and residential portfolio, which includes more than 1,100 residential units, as well as historic office buildings, warehouses and other structures ranging from barracks to churches.

Earlier in his career, Adam maintained his own San Francisco based real estate law practice and served an in-house real estate attorney. He began his career as a real estate associate with Sidley & Austin from 1994-1999.

He holds a B.A. from Claremont McKenna College and a J.D. from the University of Southern California Law Center, where he was Senior Editor of the Interdisciplinary Law Journal.

A long-time open water swimmer, Adam has completed solo crossings of the English Channel and the Catalina Channel, as well as numerous Alcatraz and Lake Tahoe swims. He lives in Marin County where he is the father of two high school students and coaches a girls high school water polo team.
