“Technotainment” 2024: Distributing Content Across Multiple Platforms
On October 10, 2024, Music and Entertainment and IP Attorney, Natasha Chee, will be on a PLI panel called, “Technotainment” 2024: Distributing Content Across Multiple Platforms. This program will explore the unique and cutting-edge legal issues arising out of the convergence of technology and entertainment. Natasha will be leading a segment on “Diversity and Racial Bias in the Film Industry.”
This 1-hour segment will present an overview of recent DEI statistics and trends in identifying and eliminating racial biases in the film industry. After completing this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify pertinent laws and regulations governing and protecting against racial and other biases
- Understand how film unions and guilds (SAG-AFTRA, PGA, DGA, WGA, IATSE) are working to address racial bias and implement strong DEI efforts
- Recount the history of destructive stereotyping and negative tropes in Hollywood
- Comprehend the achievements made and the long road that still lies ahead for DEI in the industry
