NASAA 2022 Franchise and Business Opportunities Training
Dawn Newton, franchise and distribution law specialist, will be co-presenting a program called “Item 20 and Turnover Rates” at the NASAA’s 2022 Franchise and Business Opportunities Training on December 1, 2022.
This presentation will review the requirements of Item 20, common errors and omissions by franchisors in preparing this Item, instances when multiple sets of tables should be included in Item 20, and other nuances of this section of the FDD that is more than just numbers. The presentation will also include a discussion of typical franchisee turnover rates and turnover rates that may be of concern to examiners and prospective franchisees. At the conclusion of this presentation participants will be able to:
- Recognize common and unique Item 20 deficiencies to look for during the review of an FDD.
- Evaluate whether a franchise system’s turnover rate is normal or raises
concerns.
