Music Business Seminar
On March 1, 2025, Entertainment Co-Chairs, Daniel Schacht and Natasha Chee, will be speaking at the California Lawyers for the Arts’ Music Business Seminar.
Natasha Chee will be speaking on the “Streaming Success – Monetization and Revenue Models” panel which will explore how artists can maximize their income through steaming platforms. Discussion topics will include revenue models, royalties, mechanical royalties, and how streaming impacts rights to masters. She will be speaking alongside the following panelists:
- Ned Hearn, Music Attorney, Law Offices of Edward R. Hearn; Board of Directors for California Lawyers for the Arts and West Coast Songwriters Association

- Lily Burns, Musician and Producer

Daniel Schacht will be speaking on the “Contracts and Creative Control” panel which will focus on the basics of contracts for both DIY and established artists. This panel will help artists and their teams understand the various deal structures available, including distribution and licensing agreements, and how to retain creative control. He will speaking alongside the following panelists:
- Karl McHugh, Vice President of Board for the West Coast Songwriters Association and DIY Artist
- Jonathan Blaufarb, Senior Partner and Co-Founder of Counsel LLP
- Larry Batiste, Producer, Vocalist, Publisher, and Arranger
