ICONS in Intellectual Property: The Intersection of AI, Creativity & Ownership
IP Co-chair and Music & Entertainment Chair, Daniel Schacht, will be on the Entertainment Law panel at the The University of San Francisco School of Law’s Intellectual Property & Cyber Law Association and Sports & Entertainment Law Association inaugural “ICONS in Intellectual Property” Conference on March 21, 2026. The conference will also consists of two other panels that will discuss Technology Law & AI and Fashion & Beauty Law.
The Entertainment Law panel will explore how intellectual property is evolving across the rapidly changing creative industries. Panelists will discuss their professional paths and share insights on navigating the complex IP landscape surrounding multimedia works, global content distribution, brand-building through franchise ecosystems, and high-visibility performances.
The conversation will address cutting-edge challenges at the intersection of technology and creativity, including ownership issues in video games, adaptation of games into film and television, and emerging legal questions raised by generative AI and the use of artists’ voices and likenesses. Additional topics include music copyright disputes, international enforcements strategies for major studios, and the changing dynamic between creators, studios, and distributors in the streaming era. Attendees will gain a multi-industry perspective on how entertainment lawyers protect creators and navigate emerging risks in a rapidly transforming IP environment.
