Annual Employment Law Update

Attendees will leave with an understanding of:

• New employment laws enacted in 2017
• Key appellate court decisions and how they may impact the workplace
• Policies and procedures employers should consider revising for 2018
• Recent developments in immigration and what they mean to Bay Area employers

This program is designed for HR professionals, in-house counsel, business executives and owners to learn about the significant changes in employment law, the impact on human resource and employment practices, and the actions for managing the workplace.

The program is co-hosted by Barney & Barney, a Marsh & McLennan Agency LLC Company.

Speakers:

Jonathan McNeil Wong provides immigration strategies to companies for hiring foreign nationals to work in the US and in American branches of foreign companies. His employment practice includes defending employers in individual and class litigation and advice related to workplace safety and OSHA compliance, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and labor relations.

Casey Williams focuses on employment and nonprofit law. On the employment side, she practices management-side employment litigation and counseling, with expertise in all areas of employment law, including wage and hour, wrongful termination, discrimination and harassment, and leave laws. Casey’s nonprofit practice focuses on counseling and assisting nonprofits with corporate formations, obtaining 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, corporate governance matters, and managing volunteers and operational matters.

Mark A. Delgado focuses on management-side employment litigation and counseling in matters such as wage and hour issues, wrongful termination, and breach of contract. He counsels companies on creating and implementing human resource policies, record retention, and document management, and performs harassment investigations. (Mark retired from the practice of law).

Christopher Bao is a compliance manager with Barney & Barney, a Marsh & McLennan Agency LLC Company with over ten years of legal and compliance experience. He has consulted with a diverse set of clients on multiple areas of law related to employee benefits, including COBRA, HIPAA, PPACA, ERISA, ADA, and GINA.
