Donahue Fitzgerald, LLP is seeking a senior attorney for our Construction Litigation practice in our Oakland office. The position will provide hands-on support for highly challenging and interesting legal assignments. This position will support multiple partners and practice groups.

Annual minimum billable hours requirement is 1610, with the opportunity to earn a bonus for hours worked in excess of the minimum

Job Duties

  • Manage multiple complex construction and real estate litigation cases
  • Propose litigation strategy and offer legal advice to clients regarding construction and real estate disputes
  • Communicate with clients and opposing counsel
  • Draft reports, pleadings, discovery, and motions
  • Take and defend depositions, argue motions, and participate in mediations and trials
  • Provide guidance on construction and real estate contracts to mitigate risk and support project success

Knowledge and Skills

  • JD degree from an accredited law school
  • Must be a member in good standing with the California State Bar
  • 5+ years of litigation background, preferably with extensive experience in construction disputes; construction contract negotiation and drafting experience is a plus
  • Excellent legal writing skills for drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, legal documents, correspondence, and reports
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Must be a self-starter with superior organizational skills and the ability to independently manage multiple assignments and deadlines
  • Strong analytical, research and writing skills
  • Ability to mentor and supervise junior associates and build strong relationships

The salary range for this position applies to California. The salary range reflects a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for a position. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this position is $160,000-$190,000.
