Donahue Fitzgerald, LLP has an exciting opportunity for a Senior-level Attorney to join the firm’s Employment Practice Group. It is a hybrid position, and the attorney may choose to be based in our Oakland or Walnut Creek office.
As an Employment Attorney with Donahue Fitzgerald, you will be involved in all aspects of employment litigation and advice and counsel matters.
Annual minimum billable hours requirement is 1610, with the opportunity to earn a bonus for hours worked in excess of the minimum.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Represent employers in court, in arbitration, before administrative agencies and at mediations in:
- single-plaintiff matters, including discrimination, harassment, and retaliation actions
- wage and hour matters, including class/collective and PAGA actions
- Draft and respond to pleadings and discovery
- Draft and argue motions
- Take and defend depositions
- Provide employment counseling on federal and state employment laws
Knowledge, Skills, and Educational Requirements
- JD from Accredited Law School
- Must be admitted and a member in good standing of the California Bar
- Should possess at least 8+ years of employment litigation experience, including experience defending Class Actions and PAGA matters, as well as significant experience providing employment advice and counsel
- Strong command of Federal and California state labor and employment laws
- Experience taking and defending key depositions and arguing motions in court
- Outstanding research and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- A self-starter with the ability to manage cases from start to finish
- Ability to set a course of action and direct the work of junior associate attorneys and paralegals
- Ability to think strategically and creatively while providing practical counsel to clients
- Ability to work in a hybrid work schedule of 3 days in the office

The salary range for this position applies to California. The salary range reflects a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for a position. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this position is $160,000-$190,000.
